Oh yeah we got the big guns now.

Cleaned the tank today. Did some trimming. Last weekend I got rid of the neons; they’re at a pre-school now being terrorized by evil children. Got about 10 cherry shrimp last weekend, and one unknown shrimp that is odd (which is why I bought it). Got 3 more ottos and 3 more yamato (amano) shrimp yesterday. I’ll have to get some pictures up. See baby shrimp in the tank. Pretty sure they’re from the cherry shrimp since 3 of them had eggs when I got them.

I may have mentioned this previously somewhere, but I am planning on redoing the tank in a couple of weeks. I need to wait for the new canister filter to get broken in before I rip out the old gravel and the ug filter. In the meantime I went to the fish store for about the 3rd time during golden week and I spotted a nice piece of driftwood, so I bought it before someone else stole it on me.

That’s about what I’m shooting for in the tank. We shall see if it cooperates with me. I wanted to do something different but no way I can get it to stay in place without doing some very odd stuff that I don’t want to bother with.

Now I just need to figure out what plants I’m going to go with. Some of the current ones are going bye bye for sure.

I forgot to post on here, I got a fish tank. 60cm wide (about the size of an American 20gal tank). Pictures are up on my picasa.
Right now I’m fighting with thread algae on one specific plant. So I did the rational thing today and pull the plants out and ripped all of the leaves off most of that particular plant. I left a few leaves because I didn’t see any algae or feel it on the leaves. That stuff was extremely slimy and you could feel it when the plants were out of the water. The thing that was most annoying is it seemed to be dead (turned white a while ago), but continued to stick to the plants and not come off no matter how hard I tried to take it off manually. I hate algae when it gets where I don’t want it. Of course it’s asinine to hate the algae just because I don’t want it in my tank.
I guess now that I took this extreme measure I can start feeding my mollys. I got one specifically so she would eat that stuff and while she did pick at it a little bit, she mostly ignored it. However, since I kind of like how she looks I got a male too. Maybe I’ll end up with more of them in the future. Maybe I’ll take them back. The fish store got a bunch of golden rams in today and I really wanted some, so maybe I’ll have to get a few. They’re really young and they just go them so I’m going to wait a few weeks before I get any if I do.
Well that’s all for now. Maybe I’ll start writing a tank log or something.

Apparently I can write posts from word now. That’s interesting. Not sure if I care but it might encourage me to write more? Maybe.

I am lazy. Haven’t written anything on here in 8-9 months? Oops.

For anyone who doesn’t know I’m in Japan and have been here since the end of June. So far things are pretty good. Oddly Hokkaido is far more “wisconsin” like than I had anticipated. Which is unfortunate because I hate winter and that is what I’m enjoying at the moment. Nothing like moving halfway around the world to experience the same horseshit you left behind.

That is all. I probably won’t post anything on here any time soon because as the title says, I’m lazy.

The Us vs. Them mentality seems to be in full swing in this country as of late.

It seems that people really enjoy blaming people who have less than them when shit goes wrong because it’s easier to do so than take responsibility for voting republican all those years(?)
